The statue of Christ the Redeemer is situated at the height of 710 meters high on the Corcovado Mountain in Brazil. This is in fact one of the most visited and bets known monuments in the world. This statue represents Jesus who is standing with his hands stretched to welcome everyone. It is one of the biggest and the tallest landmarks in this lively city of Brazil. You can find a small Chapel situated at the base of this statue. This place offers a magnificent view of Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema & Copacabana Beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Bay. The monument was initially inaugurated by Getulio Vargas the Brazilian President and Dom Sebastiao Leme the Cardinal, on October 12 1931, the holy day of Our Lady of Aparecida.
